As the weather cools down and the rains decrease here in Miami, your yard and your landscape have different needs. Here are a couple of tips for the winter:
Hire the best contractor for landscape Melbourne
1) Water as much as legal restrictions allow. We touched on this last month, but it’s important to make sure that your lawn is getting the water it needs. I recommend watering your yard either at dawn or just before nightfall. That way, the water won’t evaporate before it has a chance to soak into the ground.
2) Continue cutting your lawn regularly. Since grass grows more slowly this time of year, many homeowners cut their lawn less frequently. However, this can actually harm your lawn. This is because each time the lawn is mowed, grass clippings fall down and fertilize the lawn as they decompose. When you stop cutting your lawn, your lawn loses that source of nutrition. However, it’s important that you don’t cut your lawn too short, as that can damage the grass. I don’t recommend cutting grass shorter than normal.
3) Instead of bagging & trashing fallen leaves as landscape Melbourne might suggest, chop them up while mowing your lawn. This process breaks down the leaves and allows them to serve as mulch for hedge beds. For best results, run over the leaves backwards with your lawn mower to chop them up into tiny pieces.
Even in a region as temperate as South Florida, the winter brings a significant change of climate. It’s important for homeowners to understand these changes and make the appropriate adjustments.
